Next Media’s Hatmah Nalugwa Ssekaaya has opened up about the struggles she went through as she had to take care of her daughter who was battling cancer before she breathed her last.

Hatmah Ssekaaya stressed that she always had to be close to her daughter to make sure that she would provide for her everything she wanted.

She noted that the doctors told her that her daughter had a challenging illness which they termed a brain stem tumor (cancer) that was hard to treat since it was affecting her sensory nerve.

She was then advised to check in at Mulago Hospital for surgery but on reaching there, the doctors told her that they weren’t in a position to carry out surgery on her child since her condition was very sensitive.

She was advised to seek improved medication in Turkey or India which would cost her 20,000 USD (Ugx 80M) and luckily they managed to collect the money.

Before they would even travel, the doctors told her that the surgery would do very little about the child’s survival, and before they could even travel, her child passed on in September last year as she would no longer be able to eat solid food.
