Andrew Kyamagero slams Ugandan concert organizers for charging VIPs extra for seats

Concertgoers in the VIP section of Rema Namakula’s concert were asked to pay extra money for seats, which spoiled the experience for most revelers including Andrew Kyamagero.

During the Cindy vs Sheebah battle which took place at the Independence Grounds in Kololo in September 2023, revelers in the VIP section grew rowdy when they were told to pay extra money to access chairs upon arrival to the concert.

Standing next to renowned events emcee and TV personality Edwin Katamba a.k.a MC Kats, I overheard him mentioning how such tendencies of service providers yearning to maximize profits end up giving a bad experience to concertgoers.

“Someone cannot pay Shs100k for VIP and then you make them pay for a seat,” Kats lamented before demanding to speak to the organizer on the ground. The situation was later rectified and seats were provided for the VIPs.

On Friday during Rema Namakula’s concert at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, a similar occurrence happened to renowned news anchor Andrew Kyamagero.

Via Twitter, the NTV journalist revealed how despite charging Shs150k for the VIP section, organizers could not provide a seat for free to attendees and they had to part with Shs5k to access a seat.

This, according to Kyamagero, has continued to spoil the experience for most revelers at concerts, and the value of Ugandan concerts is still very below par.

Kyamagero noted that it is the reason he rarely attends Ugandan concerts and only opts for outings that provide a VIP experience to all revelers like Roast And Rhyme.

Naye Uganda concerts ,you pay 150K for a ticket and still have to pay 5k for a seat. My reasons for not attending some bivvulu. Value 4 money ,ekyali wansi. Kaninde @RoastAndRhyme yaffe.
