Navio urges Bebe Cool to make constructive statements for the Ugandan music industry

Rapper Daniel Lubwama Kigozi alias Navio has implored Gagamel crew boss Bebe Cool to stop making showbiz statements and rather make constructive remarks that would help the music industry in the future.

Navio cautioned Bebe Cool as he shared his insight about the Ugandan music industry during his interview on Kasuku Live where he claimed that seeing Bebe Cool begging and kneeling to be accorded the rights he deserves is not cool.

This was after he had explained why Ugandan artists are not making progress yet in an actual sense they should have improved in many ways including earning from their creative works and stage performance payments.

He wondered why an artist from 2010 to date would still be getting paid Ushs5m for a performance yet other artists in different countries are now getting paid USD100K for shows as he cited the P-Square.

Navio further claimed that this is not the first time he has seen and heard Bebe Cool make showbiz statements and recalled when he asked him why he injects his own money into making expensive trips and projects saying this would be facilitated by the government an idea he doesn’t commit to.

He says some things that can be showbiz but in his position, he has to stop and say things that are more well thought out and brought out. Bebe give me a call we can chat about it. There have been so many mistakes made by guys who came before me and should stop making the same mistakes. He should make constructive statements for the future of the industry.

Navio went ahead to claim that the main challenge with the Ugandan music industry is not the copyright law bill but the way loyalties are collected.

He further noted that stakeholders should separate loyalties from the copyright law reasoning that these are two things. He added that once the loyalties are collected well, artists would reap the effort and hard work they implore in their works.

The major problem with the Ugandan music industry is collecting loyalties from where they should be collected. And we confuse loyalties and copyright as the same issue. Let’s separate the two.
