How Vinka overcame public abuse and depression to become a big star in East Africa

Since upgrading from music management to a singer, Vinka has not had it easy and had to deal with social media criticism very early in her career.

Formerly managing Irene Ntale, Vinka’s talent as a singer was faced with heavy criticism straight from her very first song.

Her appearance was also mocked by some critics, something she says had a heavy effect on her life including throwing her into depression.

“Public abuse is not something easy to deal with, I can assure you. People made me feel ugly. Have you ever felt like you’re the ugliest person ever? People made me feel like I am nothing, like I am not talented,” Vinka says.

Somehow, she overcame the public abuse with the help of her team at Swangz Avenue and has since proved her critics wrong, becoming one of the biggest stars in East Africa with chart-topping songs.

I am very talented, I know that. The teachers, the people that went to school with me know that Nakiyingi is a talented girl but people made me feel like, “she is nothing, she can’t do anything.”

It’s very bad. I kind of got depressed but thank God, the team that I work with at Swangz Avenue had already briefed me and but somethings that you cannot control.
