Grenade official calls for government intervention to promote local talent in Ugandan music industry

In a recent interview with Tuff B of NBS Television, Grenade Official, a prominent Ugandan artist, voiced his concerns about the lack of support for local talent in the music industry.

Grenade Official emphasized the need for the government to step in and address the issue of international artists overshadowing homegrown talent, particularly highlighting the incredible talent of artists like Sheebah.

Artists like Sheebah have consistently delivered outstanding performances and have garnered a dedicated fan base both locally and internationally. However, the lack of support from the government has hindered their growth and recognition on a larger scale.

One concern that Grenade Official raised is the trend of flying in international artists, such as Tems, to perform in Uganda and prominently feature them on billboards.

While it’s exciting to have international acts visit our country, it’s equally important to prioritize and promote our talented artists. By giving more opportunities to local artists, we not only showcase our unique Ugandan sound but also contribute to the growth and development of our music industry.

Government should not allow any company to fly in international artists to be put on pur billboards yet we have our home talent doing even better. Even our music is evolving.
