Gift of Kaddo urges artists to ditch vulgar lyrics for timeless music

Former Goodlyfe singer and songwriter Gift ov Kaddo, real name Gift Kyambadde, has highlighted the need for artists to desist from using vulgarity in their lyrics if they intend to create music that lasts ages.

Gift ov Kaddo is widely known for his songs Traffic Man, Lawyer, Muchumba, and Kulu Kulu among others. Despite not having a currently trending song on the charts, his music is still listened to by the new generation, something he believes he would never have achieved if he had used vulgar lyrics.

In an interview with Spark TV, Gift of Kaddo noted how music nowadays is too vulgar and its promotion on different media has made it hard for parents to regulate what their children listen to.

Artists now look for vulgar lyrics and feel comfortable creating music with them. The content is also being promoted online, on the Radio, and TV. It has become tricky to regulate what our children watch on TV, I have a kid also so I constantly ask myself, what am I grooming?

He urges artists to get back to the drawing board and record quality music with morally upright lyrics if they intend to create timeless music to last through different generations.

Kaddo claims that if he had resorted to creating music with explicit contexts, it would have vanished from the charts.

That’s why as Kaddo, I focus so much on the quality of music I sing because people wouldn’t still be listening to ‘Traffic Man’ if it was a vulgar song.
