The Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom Charles Peter Mayiga has cautioned artists to treat their craft as a professional job and be respectful if they want to achieve success in their respective fields.

The Katikkiro made the remarks while speaking to BBS Terefayina during Rema Namakula’s ‘Melodies Of Love’ concert which happened on Friday 23rd February 2024 at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

Mr. Mayiga urged artists to always portray themselves most professionally while at work because they are looked at by many people in society.

He commended Rema Namakula for always portraying herself appropriately.

“Artists need to understand that singing is a job just like being a Lawyer or a Farmer. They need to embrace and treat their craft as a profession. You have to give it (the job) time, think about it, and sacrifice a lot if you want your job to turn out successful,” Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga said.

Mayiga further commented on the artists’ fashion stating that as long as they have good morals, fashion should not be such a big deal as it cannot determine how successful they can become.

Fashion depends on where you are and your surroundings. Rema has always portrayed good morals and we like her. Someone’s morals are the most important.

Someone could wear appropriately and cover up their whole body yet have the worst morals. Another person could dress up quite inappropriately yet they have the best morals. Fashion does not determine success at your job but rather how professional you are.
