This morning, the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, led by Hon. Herbert Edmond Ariko, visited the Adjumani Water Supply and Sanitation Project to assess its progress.

The project, funded by the World Bank through the Integrated Water Management and Development Project (IWMDP), is being implemented by National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).

Hon. Ariko praised the progress, noting that construction is underway, with the contractor procured and mobilization completed. He emphasized NWSC’s proven track record in delivering major water projects, expressing confidence that the Adjumani project will be completed on time and within budget.

This project is vital for Adjumani, a district known for hosting large refugee populations. It aims to provide sustainable water solutions, including a raw water intake, a water treatment plant, distribution pipelines, and sanitation facilities, benefitting both the local community and nearby refugee settlements.

Hon. Ariko urged local leaders and residents to support NWSC in this critical endeavour and committed to returning for further reviews, ensuring the project meets the highest standards for community benefit.
