William Lwaga, an activist with the National Unity Platform (NUP) was today arrested by police from his home in Nabweru, a Kampala suburb, and taken to an unknown destination.
Lwanga, who until his arrest had been the administrator of a Facebook page #FreeUganda and a staunch critic of the dictatorship and injustices in Uganda, joins several other NUP activists and supporters of musician politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Family sources reveal that so far, efforts to find Lwanga’s whereabouts have for a long time proved futile and calls to the police have gone unanswered.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that following his arrest, Lwanga’s Facebook page #FreeUganda has since been down and it’s suspected that it was shut down by authorities in the country.
We call upon any person who may have information about Mr. Lwanga’s whereabouts to reach us at our news desk.
