The NRM Branch leaders in South Africa have announced plans for their inaugural symposium aimed at drawing potential investors to Uganda.

Scheduled for September 27th and 28th in Johannesburg, the event will shift its focus from previous political mobilization efforts to offering Ugandans a chance to engage with prospective investors from Southern Africa about investment prospects in Uganda.

Branch Chairman Mr. Isma Luzige highlighted that, beyond foreign remittances, this symposium represents a key opportunity to contribute to Uganda’s socio-economic development by attracting direct investment and generating employment opportunities.

Luzige made these comments during a press briefing at the party Secretariat on Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.

President and NRM National Chairman Yoweri Museveni will serve as the Chief Guest, while NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong will deliver the keynote address at the high-profile event.

Maj (Rtd) Awich Pollar, Director of External Affairs at the NRM Secretariat, emphasized that Uganda and South Africa have a strong bond rooted in their shared history from the Anti-apartheid movement.

“We are now prioritizing economic empowerment in both nations within the framework of Pan-Africanism,” Counsel Awich remarked.

He urged all Ugandans residing in Southern Africa to actively participate in the symposium to explore the available opportunities.
