Jamaican artist Shenseea opened up about how her mother’s death continues to impact her on its fourth anniversary today.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 27-year-old shared heartfelt photos of her mother from happier times. “I try to run but I can’t escape .. yet still I can’t face it. Inside me burns every time I think of you,” she began in the caption.

“I hate this feeling… the vulnerability, sadness, pain, the heaviness of never being able to see, hug, or hear the voice and laugh of someone who was always so energetic… the loss! I try to forget because what she’s does it make when you’re never coming back?? Remembering you hurts. I love and miss you so much Mom 🕊️”

Shenseea’s mother, Castilyn Eleanor Williams, tragically passed away in June 2020 at the age of 52. The initial cause of death was not publicly disclosed, but a few days later, Shenseea revealed that Williams had suffered a mild stroke and then had a fatal heart attack while hospitalized.

During her eulogy, Shenseea paid tribute to her mother’s exceptional character.

“Mommy you are irreplaceable,” she reportedly said.

“On the first of August 1968, one of the most altruistic human beings was born. You were the true definition of a humanitarian, always caring for others even if you didn’t know them. You had such a big heart.”

In an Instagram Live session last year, the Blessed singer shared how her mother’s death led her to move to the United States. “I know you guys hear me talk about this a lot, but the death of my mom was really traumatizing for me and I couldn’t stay there,” Shenseea said.

“I moved from where we were living at the time and it was still like, you know, it was still too much. So, I just left the country and brought my baby and my little core family with me, and we just took off and said that yow, we’re gonna start over and tuh, this is the start.”

Shenseea’s support system has been sending her some virtual love today.

Co-manager Romeich Major was among the lot sending kind words.

“Keep strong your mother is so proud of you and who you have become keep pushing forward!!!!” he said.

American R&B artist Queen Naija added: “Praying your strength in the Lord. She’d be proud of you for pushing through the way you do🙏❤️”

Stefflon Don also said, “you’re doing her so proud ❤️🥹”
