The Uganda Athletics Federation has announced a robust team of 20 athletes, excluding two on standby, to represent the country in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

The athletics events are scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 11, 2024.

The team boasts an impressive lineup, featuring three brothers – Jacob Kiplimo, Oscar Chelimo, and Victor Kiplangat – and multiple World Record Holder Joshua Cheptegei, who will compete in both the 5000m and 10,000m events.

Notably, Geoffrey Kusuro and Solomon Mutai, who had qualified, were not selected, while Esther Chebet will not participate in the Women’s category. Belinda Chemutai and Loice Chekwemoi are listed as standbys.

Uganda’s Olympic medalists in athletics include John Akibua, Davis Kamoga, Stephen Kiprotich, Peruth Chemutai, Jacob Kiplimo, and Joshua Cheptegei.

Uganda aims to build on its successful outing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they won four medals.
