Dokolo (UG):- The Grade One Magistrate Court in northern Uganda’s Dokolo District has granted bail to a health assistant of Adeknino sub-county who was arrested on allegations of arson and inciting violence.

George Ongom, popular in Dokolo as Ongom Lango was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned before the Grade One Magistrate Dr Irene Namae on Thursday, July 4, where he was read the charges.

Court heard that the accused persons and others still at large, on June 22, 2024, at Awelo Trading Centre in Dokolo district, Ongom mobilised people to burnt to ashes the motorcycle registration UDF 936G of one Ivan Okello.

The case against Ongom and 18 others was opened at Dokolo central police station under CRB 318/2024.

On Thursday, the suspect, Ongom, after taking a plea before Dokolo Chief Magistrate, Irine Namae, pleaded not guilty to the offence and asked the court to grant him bail.

Namae then granted Ongom a non-cash bail of 6M Shillings while his surety Dorcus Ongom was ordered to pay 2 Million Shillings non-cash bail.
