The State Minister for Relief Refugees and Disaster Preparedness Hon. Lillian Aber has handed over UGX 18m from H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the injured Kiteezi disaster victims.
The Minister handed over the money yesterday. The families that lost their loved ones were each given UGX 5m.
The minister thanked the Security team, RDC, Local leaders and the community for unity exhibited during this trying moment.
“It was reported that 23 people got injured during the Kiteezi catastrophe, however, after intense verification, we discovered that the exact number was 18. So today, I handed over 18 million Shillings to all injured persons. This money is from His Excellency the President of the republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in addition to the 5 million shillings being given to the Families of those who lost their lives during the tragic incident. I thank the Security team, RDC, Local leaders and the community for unity exhibited during this trying moment,” Hon. Lillian Aber said after handing over the money.
