MIKA’s debut album, Life In Cartoon Motion, is set to be reissued as a 2LP set on 180-gram vinyl with newly remastered audio.
The collection, to be released on September 6, features the smash hits “Grace Kelly” and “Love Today”, alongside the fan-favorite hidden track, “Over My Shoulder.”
Last we heard from MIKA was in April, when he completed the UK and Ireland leg of his “Apocalypse Calypso” Tour. The artist performed in Brighton, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Dublin and London, where he headlined the Eventim Apollo. The run followed an extensive tour of mainland Europe, which began in Bordeaux and wrapped up in Berlin.
MIKA’s last project was 2023’s Que ta tête fleurisse toujours, which featured the single “C’est la Vie” and found him singing exclusively in French. The follow-up to 2019’s My Name Is Michael Holbrook was released via Island Def Jam France.
MIKA began his pop career in 2007 with the single “Grace Kelly,” which went on to sell over three million copies worldwide and was the second British single ever to top the chart on downloads alone. His second album The Boy Who Knew Too Much released in 2009 continued the trend, making it into the top ten in over 10 worldwide and included the hits “We Are Golden,” “Blame It On The Girls,” and “Rain.”
In May 2022, after a triumphant return to Coachella, MIKA had the honor of acting as an international host of that year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The singer dazzled the audience with a show-stopping medley at the finale with audience figures reaching 161 million viewers.
Next year, MIKA will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his fourth studio album, No Place In Heaven. It was quickly acknowledged upon its release as his most confident work to date, packed with playful pop tunes showing just how accomplished his songwriting was becoming. If the more brittle tension of his first two albums had mellowed by the time his third, The Origin Of Love, was issued, No Place was sunnier still.
