Busoga Tourism and Heritage Ministry head Hon. Hellen Olga Namutamba has praised and lauded everyone who was part of Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge 2024 that was held on 17th August in Buyende District. Below is her full Thank you message from her ministry;

The Minister of Busoga Tourism and Heritage Owek Hellen Namutamba extends her heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, the King of Busoga Kingdom, for accepting to lead his subjects in the Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge 2024.

Much appreciation goes to the President of the Republic of Uganda His Excellency
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fully sponsoring the Busoga’s biggest annual cultural event. Your full event sponsorship enabled us to achieve a significant success. We registered more than 160,000 hikers, making this the biggest cultural event in Busoga
Tourism.


In a special way, we thank the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs the Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwaala Kadaga, for your incredible commitment towards promoting and preserving Busoga tourism and cultural heritage sites.

Kagulu Rock Climbing Event didn’t leave community the same.

Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge begun on 15th till 17th of August, 2024. Below were the major event activities that took place.
1. The Tourism & Cultural Expo which showcased Busoga’s rich heritage.

2. Medical Camp facilitated by the Uganda Red Cross, Whispers Children’s Magical Hospital, and Al-Shafa Modern Hospital.

3. Local wrestling by the community wrestlers.

4. Kickboxing performances from Busoga kickboxers led by Deyongera Abudallah Tif aka Japan.

5. Boxing led by Salima Tibesigwa, the younger female boxer.

6. The Miss Tourism Grand Finale Competition.

7. Music performances by artists under Busoga Talents and Musicians Network led by Geo Bless.

8. Rock Climbing lead by the chief climber the Kyabazinga of Busoga, accompanied by the Chairperson Busoga Tourism Board maama Kadaga.

9. Issuing appreciation certificates to the sponsors.

10.Crowning Miss & Mr. TikTok Busoga.
11.Appointing Busoga Tourism Ambassador.

12.Crowning Miss Tourism Busoga.

13.Prize giving to; the winners of Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge, Tourism
Ambassadors and Miss Tourism Queens.

Maama Kadaga pledged to offer full education sponsorship to the younger female international professional boxer, Salima Tibesigwa.

We humbly request for funds to build a seating pavilion for tourists, so we no longer need to hire tents, as well as a health meter and a market for the community to sell their
commodities, given the global attraction of this event.
