Manchester United midfielder and assistant captain Bruno Fernandes has warned his teammates not to use ‘tiredness’ as an excuse for their faltering form.

Fernandes gave the warning ahead of Manchester United’s four vital fixtures that will determine their Champions League fate.

Erik Ten Hag’s maiden season in charge of the Red Devils will go down as a major success if his faltering side manages to secure a top-four spot and a domestic cup double.

In their last two games, the Manchester-based club suffered consecutive 1-0 defeats to Brighton and West Ham and this has given significant cause for concern, especially given Liverpool’s recent renaissance.

Fernandes told Sky Sports: “Tiredness is always there.

“We play many games so that’s normal, but our club wants us to play as many games as possible, to be in a position to win trophies and reach finals. You have to find a way to rest when possible.”
