Rapper Santana Karma shared the story behind his unique stage name, revealing the thought process that led to its creation.

According to Santana, his admiration for legendary guitarist Carlos Santana played a big role in choosing his name.

During his school days, one of the songs they performed was by Carlos Santana. This connection, along with the widespread popularity of the name Santana in America, sparked the idea of bringing a similar influence to Africa.

I thought, why not have a Santana in Africa as well?

Santana also revealed a personal connection to the name through his school background.

I am an Anglican, but since P.1, I have been in Catholic schools, and Santana in Spanish means Saint Ana.

As for the second part of his stage name, “Karma,” Santana explained it represents life. He believes in the principle of karma — that the good or bad one does eventually returns to them.
