Just over 24 hours after giving “I’m His, He’s Mine” a steamy live debut on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, Katy Perry and Doechii have dropped their saucy new collaboration.

Featuring a heavy sample of Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman” — you know, the one that goes “La da dee la dee da” — the duet finds the two women marking their respective territories when it comes to their male love interests. “I’m his queen, I’m his freak, I’m every woman he wants and needs,” they sing. “I’m his main, I’m his side, I’m every woman that’s in his mind.”

The track marks the third single Perry has unveiled ahead of her new album 143, which is set to drop exactly one week after “I’m His, He’s Mine.” It follows “Woman’s World” — which sparked criticism due to Dr. Luke’s involvement in the track — and “Lifetimes.”

Prior to its release, “I’m His, He’s Mine” soundtracked one of the most memorable moments of the 2024 VMAs, with the former American Idol judge bringing out Doechii to perform a snippet of the track during the former’s Video Vanguard Award medley of hits. As they sang the sultry lyrics together, they got very up close and personal with one another and ended up kissing, a moment that made Taylor Swift’s jaw drop in disbelief.

After her performance, Perry accepted the Vanguard Moon Person from her partner, Orlando Bloom, and thanked all of her supporters in a passionate speech. “There are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist,” she said. “There are no decade-long accidents.”

The “Roar” artist also shouted out her “KatyKats who’ve stood by me for a lifetime” and the LGBTQ community, “who I recognize I would not be here without, and who show me that you can be both kind and c–t.”
