Fever, the 2016 hit by Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel, has surpassed 100 million plays on Spotify, marking his first track to achieve this milestone on the platform.
Produced by Linton “TJ” White, Fever was released during Kartel’s incarceration and featured on his 22-track album, King of the Dancehall.
The song has since garnered over 120 million views on YouTube, with its official music video accounting for 30 million of those views.
In the US, Fever spent six weeks on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, peaking at No. 36, and four weeks on the Rap Airplay chart, where it reached No. 23.
The track was certified Gold in the United States in 2020 after surpassing 500,000 units in sales and streams. In 2023, it earned Silver certification in the United Kingdom for exceeding 200,000 units.
Kartel’s other top songs on Spotify include Summer Time (41 million plays), Clarks with Popcaan and Vanessa Bling (37 million), Yuh Love (34 million), Romping Shop with Spice (26 million), and One Man with Vanessa Bling (24 million).
In 2022, Kartel was ranked fourth overall on the list of most streamed Jamaican artists on YouTube with 415 million views—behind megastars Sean Paul, Bob Marley, and Shaggy.
Over the past year, he has received over 380 million views on YouTube, including 36 million from Kingston, Jamaica, 26 million from Nairobi, Kenya, 16 million from New York, US, and 12.7 million from London, UK.
Kartel was released from prison last month after the UK’s Privy Council overturned his murder conviction.
