Following the handover of the site to the UPDF Engineering Brigade last Tuesday, renovation work at the OPM Stores in Namanve has commenced. The first task undertaken by the Engineering Brigade is the construction of a perimeter wall. The wall’s foundation is being built with hardcore material, with its height aligned to match the level of the adjacent main road to prevent water runoff, as explained by the Supervising Engineer on site, Mr. Muhwezi.

Pillars have been erected at various points on the premises to guide the construction, marking two key levels: the main road level and the foundation level of the store’s existing structure. During an inspection by the OPM team to assess the progress, Maj. Eng. George Ogwang informed them that the plan is to raise the yard’s level by laying hardcore and gravel, followed by paving, to ensure it can support heavy traffic.

Additionally, once the yard is completed, the floor of the main structure of the store will be reinforced and elevated.
