Renowned music producer Paddy Man, real name Paddy Kayiwa Mukasa, has weighed in on why old Christmas songs reign over the current ones.
He explains that growing up, they used to listen and vibe to older Christmas songs compared to the then-festival songs that were done by artists during that period.
Paddyman is, however, positive that the current Christmas songs done by today’s artists will likely also get airplay in the future stating that the old songs bring memories of how Christmas used to be celebrated.
He doesn’t believe that the coming generations will keep on listening to the likes of Philly Bongole Lutaaya’s music forever.
I think when we were also growing up, radio stations never used to play Christmas songs of the then time. We also used to listen to Bonny M.
Currently, Philly’s music is the one being played and I think they are the songs that bring back the memories of Christmas for the past 15 years.
I believe when years go by, the current Christmas songs will get the airplay too in the coming years ahead. I don’t think they will keep on playing Philly’s music forever
He highlighted how Christmas is a season of merrymaking with family and meeting friends to have a good time.
