Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, popularly known as Salim Saleh, has expressed concern over the increasing number of musicians traveling to Gulu for Christmas festivities.
In a handwritten letter dated November 17, Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), called upon Eddy Kenzo, to address the issue.
In his message, Saleh noted that the influx of artists was disrupting his work and the implementation of programs aimed at socio-economic development in northern Uganda.
Presidential Advisor, creatives and president Uganda National Musicians Federation. Please handle musicians who are flocking to Gulu for Xmas festivities shows. They are interfering with my work in Northern Uganda.
Kenzo, who doubles as a presidential advisor on creatives and the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has yet to respond publicly to the directive.
Following Gen. Saleh’s concerns, the leadership of OWC also issued a statement emphasizing the importance of collaboration within the creative industry.
They called on stakeholders, particularly the UNMF and the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), to align their activities with national priorities.
Collaboration and mutual respect for development efforts are essential as we work towards uplifting communities across Uganda.
Reports suggest that musicians and comedians have recently been frequenting Saleh’s residence in Gulu City seeking financial assistance.
