Juma Musuuza, a 27-year-old shoe hawker known as Madubarah UG on TikTok, has been further remanded to Kigo Prison until December 13.
This follows his appearance before the Entebbe Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of hate speech and spreading malicious information about Uganda’s First Family and Speaker Anita Among.
Prosecutors allege that Madubarah used his TikTok account to post content deemed offensive toward President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and other figures linked to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Court heard that in October, Madubarah, while in Wakiso District, shared videos and posts criticising President Museveni’s rumoured succession plans.
If Museveni hands over power to his drunkard son, the country will be destroyed within two days. Let Ugandans pray for our country and ourselves.
Madubarah UG is also accused of targeting Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, stating, “If Muhoozi takes over power from his father, the country will be destroyed within two days according to how he drinks. Whoever talks, we shall kill or arrest you.”
Additionally, he is alleged to have made disrespectful remarks about Speaker Anita Among, claiming, “…using taxpayers’ money to build a mansion which is better than State House and buying bleaching jelly [chemicals].”
Despite efforts by his legal team to secure bail, the court ordered Madubarah to be further remanded, citing the need for more time to prepare for the next hearing. He is now set to return to court on December 13, when his bail application will also be reviewed.
